The one that uses correct tactics and has the best luck. It depends on what you are playing, how good everyone's guns/gear are, weather, common sense levels, and if its like CQB or field, cause a shot gunner could very easily be great in CQB but they have to be extremely talented when competing with long range rifles outdoors.

You make a valid point, but it really comes down to the player not the gear. At the end of the day it comes down to how well the player can use the tool no matter how good it is.

Exactly my point, because in a long ranged field game who do want on your team... A guy with a good DMR rifle that knows how to stay hidden, or a guy with a spring shotgun, even if he can use it very well. Well, I say DMR but if your playing CQB which would you pick? And for a valid answer a well balanced rifleman.

Really each role has their own distinct advantages and this question changes so much in different locations. Generally the best all around role would be a rifleman as they have decent range, rof, ammo cap, etc. Especially if they know what they are doing, riflemen can take down long range players(snipers/DMR) and close range players (Shottys and LMGS)

but at the same time a support gunner can do just as much damage if not more than a rifleman. A higher ammo cap, and a Rpk or m249 really isnt to much more of a hassle to carry than a ak or m4 would. sure its bigger and heavier but typically the people using the lmgs are bigger anyway so it wouldnt be a problem for them.

But how effective is a m249 in a enclosed environment, or in a building? That's why this question is so diverse and can have so many different answers, but overall a well balanced rifleman is the most important because of their diverse play style.

well a m249 para is shorter so it could be very effective indoors.
But still unless your a big person or your really strong its going to be hard to lug one of those around and still be fast with it, which is needed in a CQB environment.

Well obviously a 5 pound gun is going to easier to control, but if you are a bigger person a 14 pound A&K M249 PARA will not be a big problem. And a m249 para is shorter than a m16.

Regardless of size, I guarantee I can engage you faster with a AAC honey badger for example VS your M249. You have the advantage of firepower and mag capacity but I can move faster and be more mobile. I don't care how big you are, an M249 is a LARGE rifle and you WILL tire faster than me with a Honey Badger.

And I know that not every airsofter is big enough to wield such a heavy weapon... I am 5'7" and 120 lbs... Could I work out more and be able to? Maybe... But why when I can take something with the AK or AR platform and do almost anything with it?

Im not saying that everyone should build thereselves up to be a support gunner. I dont even own a support gun. Im saying that fire power and ammo capacity is a huge thing if the gun is in the right hands. And if you have it shouldered going around corners speed is no longer a factor in a cqb enviroment.

Rifleman are the most versatile imo. They combine range and accuracy with mobility whie being able to suppress because of hicap mags... Pretty sure you could get a self winding 5000rd box mag for an m4.
