Hey guys I will be picking up a broken M4 from a friend at a game (possibly, weather depending) and would like to not only fix it, but upgrade it. I made a google doc of what I think I am planning on doing, instead of writing it all up on here.

I have a few questions though...

1. do i need SHS 13:1 gears to achieve my rps goal of 20-25 rps? (I have a set of stock JG 18:1 gears already)
2. what is short stroking? what will it do for my build?
3. how important is it to get a dremel for mods? can I achieve my goals without the mods a dremel can do?
4. what would i need to do/purchase to re-wire to the stock so i can fit a bigger battery?

I built an M4 with an m135 spring in it, and I used a JBU high torque motor, RED. I achieved with a hardwired BWKKE mosfet, 19rps with an 11.1v lipo, and guessing around 400-ish fps with .25g bbs.
it would help if you would list the proposed FPS of your build.

how important is it to get a dremel? i know building a gun isnt just installing parts and it seems like a lot of mods to the gear box includes using a dremel.

Most M4/V2 gearboxes have 8mm.

Short stroking is taking teeth off the piston and sector gear to shorten how far the piston is pulled back for high RoF setups. Nothing to do with AoE, lol. AoE is putting sorbo pads and maybe grinding down a tooth or two on the piston on the OTHER side.

Nice choice on the MOSFET.
