Hello all, I'm known as Merlin. I'm the CO of Team Prometheus, an airsoft team operating in the Tampa Bay area of west central Florida. I've been playing for the last twelve years. I run ICS AR platforms ( I own 8 at the moment). I did a hitch in the US Army in the 70's (101st Airborne Division), but missed Viet Nam by 90 days (Lucky me). I spent over 25 years working on military training simulators, every thing from aircraft, submarines, missile systems and spacecraft. Some of my interests are: airsoft(of course), anything made by ICS, military history ,weapons ,vehicles and Stargate, not just the movie but the TV series SG-1. In fact my airsoft team is based on a Stargate team. Our team insignia is the Stargate Special Forces Patch. When I find where to post them, I'm put up a few pictures of my "babies".
Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I'm registered on many airsoft forums, and found you on ASR. While I enjoy "speaking "to any and all airsofters, I really enjoy "speaking"to people I might actually meet one day. osawaab: You got that right brother, when it's 95 degrees on the field and the humidity is high, it's a real killer. The most important thing you carry is water. Greyhounds45: I read them, not very much different then the forums I'm used to, basically be nice, keep a civil tongue in you head and don't post a lot of irrelevant drivel. All as it should be. FlyBy:If I'm not playing airsoft, I love talking airsoft.

Yeah water is definately the most important thing i carry during the summer. I have a 3 liter hydro that I go through in about 5 hours of gameplay. Another thing i HATE about high humidity, is when im in the lower parts of the field, or in a creek basin, I cannot for the life of me keep my goggles unfogged.

We get humidity bad here in il, but not as bad as Florida I bet. What's the average humidity level in Florida Merlin? Like for July? Ours is like 90% and 85ish degrees on a bad day. This past summer has been nice and cool though... Only got into the 90's a few weeks out of the whole summer.

Greyhounds45:The Temps in July run in the high 80s to low 90s with humidity around 90 to 95%. August and September are actually hotter and wetter. The rainy season begins in mid to late August. So the humidity is always high as it rains every day. The average temps are in the 90s with humidity of 93 to 96%. I wondered why you were addressed as BNB when your avatar said FlyBy, now I know, and will follow suite.

Hello, a little bit late to the party due to vacation...
No worries, I love your avatar. The P-51D Mustang was always my favorite WWII fighter.(along with the P-47 Thunderbolt, the F6F Hellcat, the P-38 Lightning, the Spitfire, the Hurricane, the ME-109 And the ME-262). I guess I just like fighter planes.

Thanks, the first is a P51D, the mid I think is another spit and the last is a Spit... Airplanes first, airsoft second

I don't think the middle one is a spit. Notice it has 5 blades on the prop (never seen a spitfire with a 5 blade prop), also, the undercarriage looks a bit different, and there is no rear gear. It does look very similar though.

the definition of research in this instance is... google search 5 bladed spitfire... I am studying aeronautical engineering for school this year... Since last year's study was model aircraft aerodynamics.
