Oh I thought global mod was like a test position, a step below mod.
Quite the opposite. A step above. Anyway, I'm probably going to eliminate the mod position altogether as I see no use to restrict mods powers to certain boards unless anyone objects for a good reason.
This forum is quite young yet and the need for moderators is not that imperative yet. As more people join and the forum becomes more popular (as I'm sure it will) that need will change. You have to have someone looking at the topics and threads to keep everyone on the up and up. I've seen really heated discussions on other forums that if I had been a moderator, I would have put a stop to. And I've seen moderators who let the position go to their heads and egos and rule theirs small worlds through fear and bullying. That's why I came here, none of that exists here. It's an enjoyable environment,with none of the hassles of the larger forums. This may be off the topic, but it was something that had to be said.

I agree Merlin, although hopefully we won't stay small but will continue to have good mods tis part of the reason I started helping in the beginning, mods on kinda our parent forum (Airsoft society) like to think they are gods.

I was trying to write up a system to replace/add/remove mods and admins that would keep everyone happy. I don't think there is a way to keep everyone happy. :/
we have plenty of moderators for how many people are here, the "staff" we need is people letting event info, which was what this....organization? Was originally for. The forum seemed a good way to do it.

Ok little late but here it is- every month we hold a poll to vote on say, 4 mods. The thing is the staff gets to nominate any number of people for the election, and the trio chooses which four to run out of the nominees. This way we have full approval of the staff and trio, and from there it's up to the members to decide.

I'm kinda new here, but here's my two cents. It's been my experience that you can poll and vote an organization into total chaos. If you have three people in a room it's hard to get two to agree on anything. The way you have the forum organized right now seems to be working just fine, When it gets bigger with more members, you can revisit this topic and deal with it then. You have to be careful that any poll or vote considers the candidates qualifications (dedication to airsoft, length of membership, frequency of posting you get the idea)and does not become a popularity contest.

Well, as of now the trio are responsible and can come to a decision if need be. As far as a popularity contest the candidates would have to have passed the staff and trio.

I agree with Merlin. There's no a way a voting system would work. Mods are decided by the trio, and the trio only. Because, only the trio has the power to enable such positions.
The problem, is the trio. It is inevitable that the current trio may leave, for whatever reason, we need a good way to replace them. My thinking is as long as the admins have good intentions, the forum will be fine.

That's fine also, I was trying to kinda say that if the trio does get out of control the members and staff have the ability to overthrow them. And now that I think about it do we need a "mod" position? Couldn't the staff double as mods, and the trio are admins?
